Poem

Just when I have nothing more to say

Just when I have nothing more to say

my pen surprises with another line!

though tired from its work from day to day

it harvests fresh ripe fruit from out the vine

a line a day is all I seek to write

but from that line flows other lines of verse

whether skies are gloomy or are bright

whether the thoughts are liquid, long or terse.

I write these as a challenge to myself

to hone the thoughts I have into a form

the product sits in books upon a shelf

but what I say and feel I do perform

as vignettes that a thinking soul can delve

even when the final thoughts don’t rhyme!

Read it. Don't read it. I don't really care anymore.
