Poem

crazy

crazy doesn’t always end well.

crazy doesn’t resolve “NORMAL”.

being happy and crazy makes me immune

to the things that might irk you

that call out your tune

my band keeps on marching

one beat after the next

while the kids in the grandstand

look onwards perplexed

your normal is boring — it’s hurting my brain

I’d rather be crazy than bored to be sane!

what I’ve got is just crazy,

in all shades and hues

When my shelves look depleted I’ll make more for you

I don’t sell a little — and I don’t sell a lot

I don’t have to sell any to keep what I’ve got

For some the real fun is the turn of the trade

to exchange into money those things that they’ve made

Me? I hate money! No hint of a lie;

what good is some money/more money/ANY money to a wild crazy guy?

Just give me my free time

and a setting that’s plain

in two or three hours I’ll drive it insane!

rebuild all that’s been built

and break what was whole

throw all the pieces down the fabulous hole

hammers and fountain pens, tin-snips and zip-ties

duct tape and mannequins with crazy-glued eyes

persistently staring with looks of surprise

some glass may be broken

some blood may be shed

but I know just the one thing when I go to bed

if my dreams are so splendid when the lights are all shut

Then I’ll wake up tomorrow and act like a nut!

Read it. Don't read it. I don't really care anymore.
